Nearly one in five Ballymena people disabled.


ALMOST one in five people in Ballymena are living with a disability or long term illness it has been revealed.

This was the startling message from representatives of the local charity Shopmobility who made a presentation to Ballymena Council last Monday afternoon.

In Ballymena town there are 5,569 people (19.4% of the population] with disabilities or long term illnesses, in Ahoghill there are 443 (14.6%], Broughshane 785 (32.2%], Cullybackey 513 (21.3%], Kells and Connor 280 (18.5%], Portglenone 226 (16%], Cloughmills 246 (19.8%]. The total number of people with disabilities and long term illness in Ballymena is 8,062.
